 Betsy Jo Whitcomb

Betsy Jo Whitcomb

Director


Betsy has served on the board since 2012 including stints as secretary and president.  She is a retired nurse and certified medical assistant having worked in medical offices for 30 years.  She also has worked part-time for the Town of Falmouth as an election clerk and as deputy registrar and registrar of voters since 1972.  She enjoys genealogy and, having lived in Falmouth for 51 years, is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and its people.

Carol returned to the board in 2021.  As a former president and long-time member of the Society, she brings a wealth of institutional knowledge.  Carol grew up in Falmouth, the fourth generation of her family to live here.  Since retiring as a nurse educator, she has played a key role in many town institutions.  In 2022, the Town of Falmouth honored Carol with its Legacy Award for her leadership and longtime efforts volunteering on behalf of town institutions (including FHS!).
   
 

 David Farnham

David Farnham

President


David has been president since 2017 and has served on the board since 2015.  An engineer, he spent his career overcoming difficult business challenges though innovative use of advanced technology.  He is retired from the Army Reserve.  David has served on the board or management committee of three other nonprofits.  He enjoys researching family and property histories.  "Living in Falmouth means you can't kick over a stone without finding a story beneath it."
     

 Rich Meserve

Vice President


Rich has been vice president since 2017 and has served on the board since 2015.  He is a teacher at Westbrook High School.  In addition to having taught in a wide variety of academic settings for many years, he has been a school administrator and served in the Maine Department of Education.  He holds undergrad and graduate degrees in history and is excited to be a part of the Society.  He has lived on and off in Falmouth since 1970.  Rich encourages younger Falmouth residents to become members of the Society and learn more about the town where they live.

     

 Ron Scorsone

Director


Ron has served on the board since 2016 after retiring from IBM where he was a managing consultant driving strategic change for global clients in the public and private sectors.  He was also a project manager at IBM's renowned Watson Research Center.  Ron enjoys the climate, culture and landscape in Falmouth.  He loves exploring the area on foot on bicycle as well as learning about the history of the town.  His responsibilities on the board include overseeing operation of the museum and leading efforts to digitize our catalog to make our collections more accessible by the community.

Sally recently moved to Maine to be close to family.  She has a B.A. and and M.A. in education.  Sally is a retired elementary schoolteacher and co-author of Quaker educational materials.  She loves history and genealogy.  Her responsibilities on the board include the development of educational materials for school-aged children.


 Sue Farnham


Sue Farnham

Secretary


Sue has been secretary since 2017 and has served on the board since 2015.  She has both a B.S. and a B.A. (History) from UMaine.  Sue recently retired after 35 years as a dietitian and diabetes educator in clinical and outpatient settings.  She has been active in several other nonprofits and served on the board of one.  She is also an avid genealogist and gardener.
